CLANER launches a European project to promote floating offshore wind energy

October 10, 2025.-

Together with 24 partners from the European Union, in a program that will run for three years

The Andalusian Renewable Energy Association (CLANER) participated this week in Brussels in the launch meeting of the European I3Float project aimed at promoting the development of floating offshore wind energy in Europe.

This three-year program will be developed in collaboration with 24 leading entities in the European maritime and energy sectors, including clusters and private companies.

The I3Float project aims to strengthen and expand the European floating offshore wind energy value chain through investments in interregional innovation. It seeks to accelerate the commercialization of technological solutions, foster cooperation between regional innovation ecosystems, and encourage the participation of SMEs, especially in less developed regions. It also aims to boost the growth of the industrial sector associated with floating wind power.

During two days of work in the Belgian capital, the consortium partners defined the strategic lines and action plan for the project, which will promote innovation and interregional investment in the field of floating offshore wind energy.

Andalusia, as one of I3Float’s four innovation hubs, will play a leading role in strengthening floating wind energy, benefiting directly from interregional cooperation, accelerated adoption of innovations, and specific support for local technology providers.

All of this positions the region as a strategic player in promoting the floating wind sector and generating new industrial and economic opportunities.

I3Float is a project selected in the I3-2024-INV1 call for proposals, co-financed by the European Union through the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA). CLANER participates in this project as the coordinating partner for the Dissemination, Communication, and Exploitation of Results work package.
