02 Feb CLANER takes part in the NETZERO DOÑANA Project. Initial meeting
February 2nd, 2026.-
Dear Members,
We inform you that CLANER has launched a new project entitled NETZERO DOÑANA (Doñana Zero Emissions: Innovation and Decarbonisation), in which our association is participating as one of the four entities addressing the challenge. The project’s kick-off meeting took place in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), marking the official start of the activities and the coordination between the participating entities.

NETZERO DOÑANA forms part of the Knowledge Transfer and Collaboration Programme under the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2024–2027 (CDTI Call) and will run for a period of two years. In addition to CLANER, the project consortium is made up of Asociación Rural Andalucía (ARA), acting as coordinating entity, the Universidad de Cádiz and Grupo Considera.
The project arises from the need to address the existing tension between the environmental conservation of the Espacio Natural de Doñana and its socio-economic development, promoting decarbonisation and a just energy transition in the municipalities within its area of influence. To this end, innovation will be used as a lever to stimulate the local economy, diversify productive activity and generate green employment.
Among the main planned actions are the preparation of a territorial diagnosis in key sectors such as agri-food, sustainable tourism and public services; the development of advanced training programmes; the creation of an innovation hub for knowledge exchange; technical support for SMEs and local councils; and the promotion of the creation of energy communities.
NETZERO DOÑANA envisages a reduction in emissions and improved efficiency in water use, increased competitiveness of local SMEs and the creation of new business opportunities linked to renewable energy, as well as the empowerment of the population in tackling energy poverty.
Please find attached a project summary for further information.
