The Andalusian Renewable Energy Association (CLANER) has announced the composition of the jury that will assess the entries for the 2026 Sustainable Horizon Awards, which aim to recognise and highlight the efforts of those leading the energy transition in Andalusia; the deadline for entries is 17 April.
The awards, which are supported by Texla Renovables and are now in their second year, are aimed at companies, institutions, organisations and professionals committed to innovation, sustainability and the development of renewable energy, as well as to a cleaner and more efficient energy model in the region.
The jury will be chaired by the Regional Minister for Sustainability and the Environment of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Catalina García, and will include as members the honorary president of INERCO, Vicente Cortés, the Deputy Mayor for Human Resources, Organisation, Digitalisation, Smart City and Innovation at Granada City Council, Vito Epíscopo, the President of the Spanish Association for Battery Energy Storage (AEPIBAL), Luis Marquina, the Head of the Energy and Environment Department at INTA, Fernando Isorna, the REDEIA representative in Andalusia, Jorge Juan Jiménez, the Secretary General for Energy of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Manuel Larrasa, the Secretary General for the Environment and Climate Change of the Regional Government of Andalusia, María López, and the Texla’s General Manager, Miguel Montero; the President of the Wind Energy Business Association, Rocío Sicre; and the President of CLANER, Alfonso Vargas. CLANER’s General Secretary, Gemma García-Pelayo, will act as secretary.
The jury’s decision will be announced at the end of April and the awards ceremony, which covers various categories, will take place on 7 May in the city of Granada, coinciding with CLANER’s annual convention.
The “Luz de Andalucía” Award will recognise innovative projects with significant technological advances in the field of renewable energy and decarbonisation, with relevant improvements in the generation, storage or distribution of clean energy.
The “Energy for All” Award is aimed at initiatives that have significantly improved communities’ access to clean energy and decarbonisation initiatives, or that promote sustainability education and community participation in energy projects.
For its part, the “Verde Andaluz” Award is intended for companies with a particular commitment to environmental sustainability through practices that promote the protection of biodiversity, respect for the environment and corporate social responsibility.
The CLANER “Impulso Energético” Special Award will recognise individuals or organisations that generate a positive impact and direct benefit for the community in terms of local collaboration, participation and commitment to sustainable development in the region.
Companies, organisations and institutions based in Andalusia or carrying out projects within the Andalusian community may enter the awards, either individually or as a group. Each entrant may submit a proposal that has been completed or is currently underway and has not previously won any other award.
Applications must be submitted via an online form, in which participants must include a detailed project description along with supporting documentation or video material.
With this initiative, the Andalusian Renewable Energy Association reaffirms its commitment to the energy transition and the promotion of a more sustainable model, recognising the efforts of those working towards a green future in the region.
