June 17, 2025 .

The president of the Asociación de Energías Renovables de Andalucía (CLANER), Alfonso Vargas, delivered a strong message in defense of the Andalusian renewable energy sector during the Premios Horizonte Sostenible 2025 awards ceremony, which gathered today in Seville key companies, institutions, and stakeholders involved in the development of clean energy in Andalusia.

At the gala, presided over by the Consejera de Sostenibilidad y Medio Ambiente de la Junta de Andalucía, Catalina García, the president of CLANER emphasized that renewable energies are a fundamental part of the strength of both the Andalusian and Spanish electricity systems. “In the face of the challenge of ensuring stability, security, and environmental preservation, we in the renewable sector are proud to present today exemplary projects that stand as models of reliability, innovation, environmental commitment, and local engagement.”

The awards, organized by CLANER with the support of Texla Renovables, Iberdrola, Magtel, and Ignis, recognize the efforts of those leading the transition toward a cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable energy model in Andalusia.

The awards ceremony, which coincided with the General Assembly of CLANER, also served to highlight the role of renewables as a solid infrastructure that provides energy independence, protects our environment, creates jobs, and contributes to the development of municipalities.

“The award-winning projects are clear evidence that the renewable energy model is not only environmentally responsible but also technically robust, economically viable, and socially inclusive,” stressed Alfonso Vargas.

Premios Horizonte Sostenible Award Winners

The “Luz de Andalucía” Award, which recognizes innovative projects with significant technological advancements in the generation, storage, or distribution of clean energy, was granted to the “Planta Piloto H2 24/7” project by the Seville-based engineering company RPow, which designed an innovative green hydrogen production facility at the Port of Seville, incorporating storage systems to optimize the process.

The “Energía para Todos” Award, aimed at initiatives that have significantly improved access to energy while promoting sustainability education and community participation, was awarded to Endesa for its “Queso Solar” project — an initiative that integrates solar plants into the local territory by promoting socio-economic development through grazing and cheese production. In this category, the jury granted a special mention to the “Descubre la Energía” project by Fundación Descubre for its educational and awareness-raising efforts in science in general and clean energy in particular.

The “Verde Andaluz” Award, which honors companies with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, circular economy, and ecosystem conservation, was awarded ex aequo to the “Proyecto de Restauración de Hábitats de la Campiña de Cádiz” by BRUC, and to the project “Alya y Alamak: impulsando el cambio hacia un futuro más verde desde Cádiz” by BNZ. In both cases, the jury valued the remarkable efforts of the developers to balance energy production and biodiversity, addressing all phases of plant construction and operation.

The special CLANER “Impulso Energético” Distinction, which acknowledges individuals or entities playing a key role in advancing renewable energy in Andalusia, was unanimously awarded by the association’s Board of Directors to the mayor of Carmona (Seville) and senator, Juan Ávila, in recognition of “his firm and public support for the development of renewable energies and the energy transition, with his municipality standing as an example for Andalusia.”
