28 May CLANER urges the Regional Government of Andalusia to continue promoting renewables and simplify administrative procedures
28 May 2026 –
The president of the Andalusian Renewable Energy Association (CLANER), Alfonso Vargas, has urged the Regional Government of Andalusia to “maintain and strengthen policies that promote renewable energies and administrative simplification measures, which have enabled Andalusia to become one of the leading regions in renewable energy development in Spain and Europe”.
The representative of clean energies in Andalusia made these remarks during the Sectoral Conferences organised by CLANER in the city of Granada, which brought together the leading institutions, companies and experts in Andalusia’s energy sector.
Alfonso Vargas defended the need to “consolidate the progress achieved in recent years and avoid regulatory or administrative setbacks that could slow down strategic projects, curb investment and put at risk the creation of jobs linked to the energy transition”.
The president of CLANER also stressed that the current international context, marked by volatility in energy markets and geopolitical uncertainty, “demonstrates more than ever the importance of renewable energies as a guarantee of energy security and sovereignty for our country”, highlighting Andalusia’s role as a key region in moving towards a more competitive, autonomous and sustainable energy model.
The CLANER Sectoral Conferences served to analyse the main challenges and opportunities in clean energy. The first round table focused on projects and organisations recognised at the Horizonte Sostenible Awards 2026, with contributions from the CEO of Ariema, Rafael Luque; the head of the Don Bosco Solar project at Fundación Energía Sin Fronteras, Pedro Méndez; and the Southern Region Environmental Manager at Ignis, Bruno Suárez.
A second panel was then held on regulation in the renewable energy sector, with the participation of the Secretary-General for Energy of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Manuel Larrasa, and the Director-General for Environmental Sustainability and Circular Economy of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Carmen Jiménez. The session was moderated by the Secretary-General of CLANER, Gemma García-Pelayo.
The final section of the conference focused on energy storage and featured the participation of the CEO of Coagener, Pablo Gómez, and the Director of Technology and Innovation at CEN Solutions, José López, with the Business Development Director of Texla Renovables, Roland Bettscheider, acting as moderator.
